Labtest and Virtue Bring AI, Technology and Expertise to the 58th CBPC/ML
58th Brazilian Congress of Clinical Pathology / Laboratory Medicine · CentroSul, Florianópolis · September 15–18, 2026
Between September 15 and 18, Florianópolis hosted the 58th Brazilian Congress of Clinical Pathology / Laboratory Medicine (CBPC/ML), the largest annual meeting of clinical pathology and laboratory medicine professionals in Latin America. Under the theme “New Frontiers in Diagnosis in the Age of AI,” the congress placed artificial intelligence and emerging laboratory technology at the center of the debate about where diagnostic medicine is heading.
It was against that backdrop that Labtest and Virtue took part in the technical-scientific exhibition with a 70 m² booth built around three elements: technology, expertise and interactive experience.
Technology for the Laboratory of Today and Tomorrow
The booth presented Labtest and Virtue solutions for several areas of laboratory diagnostics, including clinical biochemistry, HPLC, hematology, electrolytes and chemiluminescence immunoassay.
Among the featured instruments were the Vercentra CH-200, the Audmax 420i, the Vercentra HB-20, the Vercentra HB-100, the AudLyte, the Aud-H 5AL, the Vercentra CS-1500, the SuperFlex and the Vercentra CP-6 systems. Together, the line-up covered routine clinical chemistry workloads, glycated hemoglobin testing by HPLC, red and white cell counting, electrolyte and blood gas analysis, and automated immunoassay.
Vercentra CS-6000: a preview of the 2027 chemiluminescence line
The future was also on display at the booth, with the pre-announcement of the Vercentra CS-6000, a new instrument in the chemiluminescence line scheduled to join the portfolio in 2027. The system was developed to automate immunoassays and offers a throughput of up to 450 tests per hour, a specification aimed at high-volume laboratories that need to absorb growing immunoassay demand without proportionally expanding their technical footprint.
AI: From Potential to Value
The connection to the central theme of the congress was reinforced by the workshop “AI in the Lab: From Potential to Value.” Throughout the three days of the exhibition, Labtest and Virtue hosted a knowledge track structured in three phases: understanding, applying and transforming artificial intelligence in the context of laboratory medicine.
The program brought together guest experts to discuss topics ranging from the fundamentals of artificial intelligence and its impact on laboratory management to questions of governance, data, security, integration, Diagnostic Stewardship and applications along the pre-analytical journey.
| Phase of the track | What the sessions addressed |
|---|---|
| Understanding | The fundamentals of artificial intelligence, what it can and cannot do in a diagnostic setting, and how it reshapes laboratory management. |
| Applying | Governance, data quality, information security, systems integration and Diagnostic Stewardship as prerequisites for day-to-day use. |
| Transforming | Applications along the pre-analytical journey and the translation of AI into operational and clinical value for the laboratory. |
The intention was to go beyond a discussion of the technology’s potential. The goal was to examine how artificial intelligence can be understood, incorporated and transformed into value for laboratories, an approach closely aligned with the current landscape of laboratory medicine and with the practical decisions laboratory directors are being asked to make today.
When AI Becomes an Experience
That same connection was evident in the interactive activity held at the booth. Through a photo booth equipped with advanced AI capabilities, visitors were able to experiment with different ways of generating images, placing themselves in scenarios related to the laboratory, immunoassays, the professional environment and the congress itself.
The activity translated into a visitor experience the very concept that guided the workshop: bringing people closer to the possibilities of artificial intelligence and demonstrating, in a concrete way, how the technology can create new forms of interaction and communication in the laboratory context.
A Presence Tied to the Future of Diagnostics
By combining technology, knowledge and experience, Labtest and Virtue structured their participation in the 58th CBPC/ML in alignment with the main theme of the congress.
More than a display of equipment, the presence in Florianópolis represented an opportunity to take part in discussions about the transformations already under way in laboratories and the new paths opening up for diagnostics.
Between what is already available for routine laboratory work and what is beginning to shape the future, Virtue brought a new perspective to the conference: turning technology into concrete opportunities that add value for the laboratory. By focusing on the central theme of the congress and fostering high-value conversations at its booth, Virtue reinforces its position as a company capable of developing modern, effective solutions for clinical diagnostics.
